Your hosts, Barry and Kay Brick, are a mix of New Jersey and local personalities. Barry purchased The Summerhouse in 1978. When visiting friends in Hartwick, he was encouraged to check out the house across the street that was for sale. All it took was one step inside and there was no turning back. He moved from Tenafly, New Jersey and is now as much a “local” as Kay. Kay is part of the sixth generation of dairy farmers to grow up on a family owned dairy farm just a few miles from Hartwick. Barry, an Irishman from New Jersey, grew to quickly appreciate the same rural setting that Kay, a well established local country gal, appreciated. It is their feeling of being stewards of The Summerhouse that drives them to welcome guests. Barry and Kay feel very blessed to live at The Summerhouse and enjoy sharing its warm surroundings with visitors. They encourage guests to stay and to feel at home with them.
